Valentine’s Day – a holiday to show love for the important people in our lives—felt different this year.
It takes extra effort to find and feel love outside of my cozy community. The global and political events swirling around us can trigger some serious chocolate binge eating and burnout.
It’s also difficult for many teams to stay enamored with their work. Some are doing too much for too long…and often for too little recognition.
Why does this matter? Because you can have the best product, the best tech stacks, and the best brand. But if your teams live on the brink of burnout, you’re destroying profits.
Let me illustrate.
Last week, a top CMO client known for its “Best Place to Work” reputation, expressed her frustration with her teams. She asked key individuals to volunteer to help shape their 2025 vision and growth plan.
The result? Nothing but crickets.
Team members told her “I’ll go along with whatever you want. I am too busy to volunteer right now.”
Those are subtle burnout warning signs.
Let’s examine why your people are mentally disengaged, and how you can prevent it. Leaders face some stiff mandates, and I bet you’re dealing with them, too:
- Grow revenue while reducing costs.
- RTO five days a week—no exceptions.
- Add more priorities to your team without adding headcount.
Mandates, cost cutting, and endless “to do” lists lead to burnout and loss of your top performers. Over time, they will cost you millions in lost brand repute, revenue, rising workers compensation costs, and indefinite medical leave.
I sprang into action two weeks ago to address the costly consequences of burnout.
I may not be a licensed medical professional, but I am quite effective at helping successful leaders find focus and calm–two antidotes to burnout. My planning and priority setting toolkit is rich and road tested. I teach clients how to say “no” to random inbound requests.
That’s why I reached out to our community quickly. I scheduled and delivered webinars and livestreams to help leaders re-examine and reframe priorities.
In addition to the 1,381 professionals who registered for the webinar series, I hosted a livestream (our 87th). You’ll find the free replay here.
In lieu of sending you flowers or chocolate, I’m delivering something more powerful: agency and confidence.
Here’s how to use these two gifts.
If you’re feeling the sting of burnout, watch or listen to this episode. You will learn:
🌟 A clear definition of burnout.
🌟 Why the 40 year-old “productivity industrial complex” is failing us.
🌟How one $800M software company is doing more with less—and reducing turnover.
🌟 A proven method to map your HIGH value priorities in real time: The SPM.
The Strategic Priority Matrix. Watch the replay for more details.
🌟 How to use generative AI as your planning partner. In the livestream, I have included a pre-tested AI prompt to create custom filters.
I want to help thousands put a bite in burnout. And if you are leading teams, it’s your job to spot burnout signs before they become too costly. If that describes you, listen now and share this show.
Instead of sending me chocolate, send me a love note that describes one thing you will stop doing. Use the three tools I provide in the livestream to map your priorities: the SPM, the AI prompt, and your priority filters. Your success makes my life extra sweet!
This was written by me, a human. I did not use AI to write this post.
